Villa Kitchen: Modern Minimalist

Villa Kitchen: Modern Minimalist

Our clients were undertaking a substantial renovation of this tired 100 year old villa, restoring it to its former glory. Well, not quite: whilst sensitive to the character of this old dame, the owners  wanted a modern, light, minimalist kitchen, confident that it would sit well with the surrounding villa style. Part of their brief was to fit a pantry into the old brick fireplace, concealing it from view behind cabinets, while providing sufficient space in the cavity to house the pantry.

Our solution was an elemental look, all in white, with cabinets running up to a bulkhead with just a small negative detail. This created seamless lines and a light, airy feel. The pantry was a triumph of engineering, the brick fireplace completely hidden - not an easy task in a villa that had seen several renovations and was well and truly out of square.
